NTIS Anti-Doping Policy
The Northern Territory Institute of Sport (NTIS) condemns the use of prohibited substances and methods in sport. The use of prohibited substances and methods is contrary to the ethics of sport and potentially harmful to the health of athletes.
NTIS recognises and adopts, as relevant in this policy, the anti-doping policies of ASC and relevant NSOs. NTIS recognises that these anti-doping policies comply with the World Anti-Doping Code. NTIS persons bound under those anti-doping policies are also bound by this policy.

Member Protection Policy
NTIS is committed to providing a sport and work environment free of discrimination and harassment (sexual or otherwise) where individuals are treated with respect and dignity, and where children are protected from abuse.
NTIS will not tolerate behaviour, which constitutes abuse, discrimination or harassment, under and circumstances and will take disciplinary action against anyone who breaches this policy.
The policy applies to behaviour occurring both within and outside the course of the NTIS's business, activities and events, when the behaviour involves individuals associated with NTIS and negatively affects relationships within our sport and work environment.
Sports Medicine Policy
NTIS has established a Territory-wide network of practitioners to provide sports medicine support, advice and treatment for sport injuries and illness related to your sports performance, NTIS can also access sports medicine services around the country through the national network of Sports Institutes and Academies.
The extent to the Territory network depends on the availability of suitably qualified practitioners in each locality. The network is coordinated through the Sports Medicine Coordinator and each NTIS program is assigned a doctor and physiotherapist.
Athletes of full NTIS scholarships receive financial assistance towards medical and physiotherapy appointments approved by the Sport Medicine Coordinator. Any further medical services required will be on the recommendation of an athlete's doctor or physiotherapist in consultation with the Sports Medicine Coordinator.

Scholarship Entitlements Policy is on a case-by-case basis and requires prior approval from the Sports Medicine Coordinator. Athletes must speak to their coach before accessing sports medicine services.
NTIS recommends that athletes use the assigned specialists but recognise that they the right to seek a second opinion and resource medical specialist as they deem necessary. These external visits will not be covered under the NTIS Scholarship Agreement unless the athlete receives prior approval.
Athletes who sustain a major injury during the course of the scholarship term may be eligible for one return airfare to a recognised alternative centre if they cannot access the required treatment in their hometown. Conditions apply.

Policy on Blood Borne Viruses
Blood borne viruses are transmitted from the blood of one person to the blood of another person. Of particular concern in sport are Hepatitis B, C and HIV. An effective vaccination is currently available for Hepatitis B, but not for Hepatitis C or HIV.
NTIS follows the recommendations of Sports Medicine Australia (SMA) and the Australian National Council on AIDS, Hepatitis C an Related Diseases (ANCAHRD). It strongly recommends Hepatitis B vaccination for all athletes, coaches and service providers who are at risk of coming into contact with a competitor's blood or other body fluids.
NTIS encourages all athletes, coaches ad service provides to practice prevention strategies in their daily non-sporting activities, to minimise the risk of transmission of blood borne viruses.
All athletes, coaches and service providers are requested to strictly follow the NTIS blood rules to help minimise the risk of transmitting a blood borne virus.
